Shenzhen Qianhai Harbour School Exchange Tour

With the early morning sun shining, our students and teachers set off on an exchange trip to Shenzhen Qianhai Harbour School. Laughter and chatter filled the school bus as it drove through the morning mist, with students buzzing about the day ahead. About an hour and a half later, we arrived safely at the school. Greeted by leafy trees at the entrance, the campus was tidy and vibrant—the perfect start to our day of cultural exchange.

The Welcoming Ceremony

The moment we entered Shenzhen Qianhai Harbour School, we received a wonderfully warm welcome. A short and sweet welcoming ceremony was held for us in the school hall. Their principal gave a speech, sharing how happy they were to have us and telling us about their school's vision and today’s activities. Afterwards, students from both schools exchanged gifts. The ceremony ended with a round of applause in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Classroom Experience

Following the ceremony, our students integrated into the classrooms of Qianhai Harbour School to experience the different learning style. We participated in a  variety of courses, which our students actively participated, collaborating with their peers to complete tasks. The initial sense of unfamiliarity quickly dissolved, and the classrooms were soon filled with laughter and lively discussion. This classroom experience not only allowed us to appreciate a different teaching style but also fostered friendships between the students of both schools.

Lunch and Campus Tour

At noon, the teachers and students from both schools gathered in the school canteen to enjoy lunch together. The tables were laden with a wide array of dishes, featuring both Guangdong-style dim sum and local home-style cooking. Students chatted as they ate, sharing stories about their school lives and hobbies in a relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.

After lunch, students from Qianhai Harbour School led us on a tour of their campus, which included the library, the multi-purpose activity rooms, and the science laboratories. Every corner of the campus was filled with creativity and vitality, which was a truly eye-opening experience for us.

The Planting Activity

The afternoon's activity was one of the highlights of the exchange: a joint planting session for our students. The school's planting base, located in a lush, green corner of the campus, was filled with various vegetables and fruits. Under the guidance of expert teachers, students learnt how to turn the soil, sow seeds, and water the plants. We planted seeds of carrots and cherry radishes, symbolizing the rooting and blossoming of the friendship between our two schools. It was also a profound lesson in unity and cooperation.

A Fruitful Return

As the sun began to set, our day of exchange drew to a close. There was a sense of reluctance to part as the time for farewell arrived. The school bus slowly departed from the campus, and our students gazed out of the windows, their hearts full of friendship, knowledge, and cherished memories as they returned to Hong Kong. We look forward to the near future when the teachers and students of Shenzhen Qianhai Harbour School can pay a return visit to Hong Kong, allowing this cross-city friendship to continue and flourish.
