Rolling Towards a Dream: A Girl’s Journey in Roller Skating
I began my roller skating journey in 2018 when I was around 7 years old. At that time, I was quite shy and introverted, with very few friends. I often felt nervous when talking to people. However, roller skating changed my life. Since I started, I gained confidence, and the joy and satisfaction I experienced made me cheerful. I began to share that joy with others and forge new friendships. It has opened a new world for me.
My Roller Skating Journey
One day, while passing by a roller rink with my mum, I was captivated by the sight of kids gliding around in their wheeled shoes. I eagerly asked my mum to buy me a pair, and she happily obliged. When I finally received my roller skates, I was overjoyed and played every day. Within a month, I could skate forward, backward and stop sharply.
Two months later, my formal roller skating training began. My mum enrolled me in the Elementary Class of Hong Kong Roller Skating School. After just five lessons, I was promoted to the Intermediate Class. Following three more lessons, I moved up to the Advanced Class. Remarkably, after only two lessons there, my coach recommended me for the Figure Skating Class. I felt like I was flying in a helicopter, soaring through the sky—it gave me a tremendous boost in self-confidence. My love for roller skating deepened, and I became determined to pursue my dream of becoming a skilled roller skater.
