Mr. Riley Wonderland

My name is Clive Riley. I come from South Africa and have 15 years of experience teaching English in Asia. Over my year at CNEC Ta Tung School, I have had the opportunity to teach and grow with the students and my fellow colleagues. I have seen the students grow in confidence and become more open and comfortable with using English. We learned about many things such as weather, occupations, and describing pictures. It has been a very wonderful year. I look forward to continuing working with all the staff and parents helping our students on their English learning journey.

Tai O Tour

This visit provided an extension of learning beyond the textbook. The P.5 students could really visit this old fishing village after reading about it on the textbook. In order to let students widen their exposure, we invited professional tour guide and even the real shrimp paste maker to explain to our students. Moreover, students could learn one of the Chinese culture, Kung Fu, with a Shaolin monk. To make this visit more meaningful, a group of reporters, leaded by our NET, were reporting the tour alongside. The other students would make up their own project book to describe the visit.

English Drama

Language art provides an excellent avenue for engaging in real-life communication and expression. We invited professional instructors to train our drama group, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Throughout the training, many even discovered their own acting talents!

Readers’ Theatre

Readers’ Theatre gives a real reason for students to read aloud. They learn to read in different tones and voices. The students “performed” by reading the scripts created from the storybook – the Gruffalo. To make it more enjoyable, we included games and songs to the theatre. It turned out to be a success when everybody involved actively and enjoyed the show. Most important of all, they have more confidence in speaking English.
