2025 P.5 3-day Educational Camp at Sai Kung: “ The New You Awaits”

Getting Ready

While all the P.5 students were excitedly preparing for their camp, the teachers were diligently organizing all the programmes. The camp, entitled “The New You Awaits,” aims to open the students' eyes to discovering their own strengths. There will be a series of tasks for students to accomplish while working in groups. Through this process, they can identify the strengths of their peers and collaborate effectively. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to uncover their own talents.

Group Activities

The students were divided into six groups to accomplish three tasks, all emphasizing the importance of teamwork, collaboration, and communication.

Task 1: Guess the Number of Colour Balls

In this activity, each group had to guess the number of colour balls in their tutor’s hand. To succeed, members needed to pass messages effectively to one another, enhancing their communication skills.

Task 2: Find the Hidden Number

This nighttime activity involved groups competing to discover hidden numbers around the campsite. Team members had to discuss and devise their own strategies, fostering collaboration and critical thinking.

Task 3: Cross the River with the Blocks

Each group was given a specific number of blocks to step on while crossing a simulated river. This task required the cooperation of the entire group to successfully complete the challenge, reinforcing the value of teamwork.

Rock Climbing and Abseiling

In this activity, the students demonstrated courage and perseverance. Each student attempted to climb a rock wall approximately ten meters high. Under the instructor's guidance, they learned how to properly use safety equipment, remain calm, and strive to continue. When they successfully reached the top, everyone cheered with excitement, experiencing a tremendous sense of achievement.

Following this, the students learned to abseil down the wall. This activity was not only a form of physical training but also a boost to their courage. With the support and encouragement of their peers, the students strengthened their friendships throughout the experience.

Mini Cannon Stand

Under the guidance of the instructors, the groups used wooden strips to build their own mini cannon stands. This was followed by a fun “Water Bomb War”. Despite the rain, the atmosphere was filled with laughter and joy. Each water bomb was accompanied by screams and laughter, celebrating the success of their teamwork.

Sharing Assembly

During the assembly, several preachers shared their experiences of becoming Christians, which deeply moved the students. Some students also took the opportunity to share their own stories and inspirations. It was a touching and bonding moment for everyone involved.

Final Group Task

The group task on the last day was challenging. All team members needed to work together to lift and stack the plastic bricks into a pile by pulling a rope. It was an exciting experience, as everyone had to collaborate carefully; even a slight mistake could cause the entire pile to collapse. Through this process, they learned the importance of effective communication and inclusiveness in teamwork.

Grand Finale

During the final activity, each student received a white T-shirt. They were tasked with drawing and writing about their feelings or inspirations from the camp. Afterwards, they exchanged their unique T-shirts with one another, celebrating their growth and transformation. The New You awaits.

Conclusion

The camp was a success, as all participants achieved a lot. They achieved a better understanding of themselves and their peers, fostered better relationships, and became a better version of themselves.
